NDIS Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a NDIS plan or funding?

If you have not been assessed for a NDIS plan you need to start by going to NDIA website and check for eligibility or call 1800 800 110.  There is an eligibility checker on this site.

If you have your plan already see below.

What if I already have completed my assessment and now have an approved plan?

Contact us directly to get started on developing your service delivery plan. Each person has different requirements so it is best to discuss what your needs are, if we provide that type of service, the cost of this and when this can start. A customer service team member can arrange all of this.

What if I need some local support?

Clarence Care + Support has staff based in the Clarence Valley with offices in Grafton and Maclean. Please contact us to discuss your ideas. We will be pleased to provide further details and information, obligation free.

How can I get more information?

Contact us and our friendly staff will respond.  Of course you can phone 6645 0400 for a chat or to arrange a visit.

Do you have staff to work with me on weekends?

Yes.  We roster staff seven days a week, and most days they work from 7am up to 10pm. Overnight shifts can also be arranged.

Can I choose my own carer or staff?

If you have someone you would like to work with you contact us to see how this can be arranged.   All staff must have a police clearance and a first aid certificate.

Do you assist with financial management?

Yes.  Clarence Care + Support can be a financial intermediary and plan manager. If this is included in your plan then it will be claimed on your behalf.

Can you help with organising my services?

If you have support co-ordination in your plan we can get a staff member to work with you to get your plan up and going.

What services does the government offer?

The Commonwealth government funds the National Disability Insurance Scheme to cover reasonable and necessary costs for those who have a permanent disability.   There are a number of other services such as employment, mental health, headspace, community health, education, legal services, ATSI specialist services that may also benefit you depending on your circumstances.

How old do I have to be?

The NDIS has an early intervention program for children. If you are under 65 years you can apply for a NDIS plan and this plan can then stay with you as you age. If over the age of 65 years and applying for services you must be assessed under the aged care programs.

What do I do if I am not eligible?

This will depend on your situation. There is an option to appeal any decision made by the NDIS and you may wish to discuss this with the Local Area Planner or an advocacy service.

Can I get NDIS and aged care services?

No

Do I have to use just NDIS registered providers?

If you are NDIA plan managed then yes you must use registered providers.

If your plan is through a financial intermediary or plan manager then there is a choice.

If you self manage then you can choose any provider.

You will need to fully understand the rules which can be found on the NDIA website.

What if I need to change my plan?

Contact your Local Area Coordinator or Support Coordinator as noted in your plan.

How much does it cost for your service?

Under the NDIS there are no fees charged to the customer. We use the NDIA portal to book services and you can see all of this as it is your plan on the portal. We then claim directly with the NDIA when services are completed.

If you have a plan manager then Care + Support will invoice them directly after services are completed at the price in the service agreement and quote.

If you self manage then we will invoice you directly after services are completed at the price in the service agreement and quote.
